1. What is a roofing emergency?
A roofing emergency is damage to a roof that requires immediate attention. 

For example: 

• A leak has now got out of control and is likely to affect the structure of your home severely.

Of course, you’ll want to regularly inspect your roofing for any damage, especially after severe weather conditions. However, by following the tips listed below, you can reduce the chance of unwanted roofing damage.

1. Deal with Overhanging Trees
Weather conditions have a huge impact on roof damage, which can be heightened by overhanging trees. By maintaining or removing dangerous greenery nearby your property, you will reduce the chance of it potentially falling onto your roof and/or breaking any guttering. Doing so will also protect any tiles from breakages and mould growth that may lead to leaks and further interior damage.

2. Use Starter Shingles to Protect from Extreme Weather
Think ahead where you can to protect your roof, even if it means checking the weather forecast. If you spot any loose shingles then you can add roof cement below individual segments to prevent them from falling off during a storm. You could also use starter shingles, these are placed at the edge of the eaves and gutters of your home. They are specifically designed to resist wind damage and protect the edge of the roof and to provide a guide for the correct placement of all the other shingles.
